El Cielito beach translates to english as “Little Heaven” beach, so… let’s start from there:
Why does this beautiful-beautiful place is called El Cielo, or heaven, and where does its name come from?
As everything does, this starts with culture and symbols.
Once upon a time, there was a young man who was passionately in love with a girl. He loved her so truly and beautifully that he caught the attention of a God.
But the youngster had an impediment: he had no goods to offer to his beloved so, touched by the young man’s infatuation, Poseidon, ruler of the ocean, decided to help this man and proceed to turn off all of the stars in the night sky and then placed them into the sea, so the man had an amazing present for his lady.
They concerted a date for which the damsell was reluctant, but the gods intervened her dreams and taught her into going on the date, where the young man appeared, all dressed in white and showing closed fists.
When she first arrived the man opened his hands and millions of starfish flew into the ocean, becoming a symbol of true love between youngsters.
El Cielito is not actually a beach, but a sandbar made of shallow and pristine waters that allow you to observe all the natural wonders that lay below the surface. This site’s been selected as one of the most beautiful spots to snorkel in the world given the amount of starfish that can be observed close by on the shallow bottom of this sandbar.
Perhaps the most important thing to mention regarding this amazing sandbar is that it is just next to Cozumel’s shore, and this comes in handy when you’re looking for a tour that does not take away one whole day of your trip.
It works as follows:
You will get on a high-speed boat to discover the Cozumel Reef National Park, one of the best places in the world to snorkel and witness marine life.
After this you will get to “El Cielito”, where the sky is always full of stars!
Once you’re fascinated by the starfish constellations below the surface and rested for a while in your hotel room, we suggest you take a shower and bathe yourself in mosquito repellent, so we can pick you up In the evening, as we’ll be taking you to enjoy a culinary experience with a former Master Chef participant!
Traveler’s table will guide you through a senses experience. You will be part of the preparation process of your own food, as our master chefs guide you through incredible cuisine and mystical culinary history. Dishes like a special chicken salad or Caribbean ceviche, a gluten free or vegetarian menu for those who take special care and, last but not least, a homemade bread!
The flavors of the Mayan Empire will fill your soul with their mysticism and you’ll pair these amazon pleasures with mezcal, tequila and wine.
This 5-course meal will leave you astonished and get you ready for the next step in your itinerary.
