Check if your hotel offers biking rental options, and if not, you can easily rent one for about 100 MXN (5.5 USD) from various companies located in the center of Tulum. Cycling from Tulum downtown to the Gran Cenote should take around 15-20 minutes.

You can also use public transportation, and take a collectivo, a local bus. These cost about 25 MXN (1.4 USD). You can get one next to a large supermarket called “Super Aki” and just tell the driver where you’re going. Still, the schedule of Mexican collectivos is not very regular, to put it mildly, so it might not be the most reliable option. You could also walk, following the main road from the ADO. bus station. It should take you about an hour, but remember that the Mexican heat can be an obstacle.

The Entrance fee to the Gran Cenote is 500 MXN (25USD) and it’s open Monday through Sunday from 8 AM to 4:45 PM. The last entry is at 4:25 PM.

• Towel: A towel is essential for drying off after swimming or snorkeling and for lounging on the shaded areas or hammocks around the cenote.
• Sunscreen and Hat: The Yucatan Peninsula can get quite hot and sunny, so be sure to bring sunscreen and a hat to protect yourself from the sun's rays. Just remember that you won’t be able to use sunscreen while swimming in the cenote. It’s obligatory to take a shower before plunging into it to protect the delicate ecosystem. Still, you should apply one after you go out to avoid sunburn.
