Most people decide to combine visitting thse famous Mayan ruins with a scenic cenote and choose the closest one, Cenote Ik Kil.

That’s why Cenote Saamal is recommended if you want to enjoy this natural beauty in a calmer atmosphere.

Cenote Saamal - Practical Information

The Cenote is open all year round from 8:00AM – 6:00PM. The entrance fee is $150 pesos (about $9 USD). It has a good infrastructure with car parking, bathrooms, and picnic tables. There is also a good restaurant on the premises, Hacienda Selva Maya.

Life vests are obligatory to enter the cenote, which some tourists may find annoying. However they are included in the entrance price, as well as the locker.

Cliff jumping is not allowed but you can jump from the wooden platform.

If you travel from Valladolid, and you don't have a car, you can rent a scooter from downtown Valladolid. You can ask your hotel for recommendations or search for nearby scooter rental shops. You can also choose to cycle! Many hotels in Valladolid provide bicycles for their guests. If your hotel doesn't offer bicycle rental, you can easily find rental shops in the city called "rentadoras de bicicletas." The average cost is around $250 MXN per day. You can follow the Google cycling route from Valladolid's center to the cenote, which is approximately 4 km long and takes you through quiet roads.

Alternatively, you can take a taxi from Valladolid city center to reach Cenote Saamal, with an expected fare of around $100 pesos for a one-way trip.
