Do you know what’s my favorite spot in Cancun?
No, surprisingly it’s not the Hotel Zone or any of the beaches, it’s Puerto Cancun Marina Center . Yes, shopping in Cancun is an experience in itself, and it should be on your to-do-and-see list during your vacation in Riviera Maya.
I will share with you a list of my favorite places to go shopping in Cancun for different reasons. It’s not a complete guide to shopping in Cancun, there are so many places that you could go, but I promise that you won’t be disappointed with any spots from the list below.
Last but not least, you have to read till the end to know why Puerto Cancun Marina Town Center is my absolute top!
Let’s go shopping in Cancun!!
La Isla Paradise Experience, commonly known as La Isla among the locals, is probably the most popular open-air shopping complex. It’s not close to the downtown area or beaches, but it’s conveniently located in the Hotel Zone.
Why should you go? Many famous brands for restaurants and shops—who doesn’t like Hooters or Victoria’s Secret? It also has an aquarium and you can swim with the dolphins, watch a show, or simply dine admiring these beautiful animals. The complex also boasts a huge Ferris Wheel from which you can see Cancun and the surroundings.

This mall is located a bit off the beaten track but it’s definitely worth visiting if you’re looking for great deals. You can find there many famous brands from Nike through Guess and Under Armor. There is also a cinema, a casino, and a couple of small restaurants, although the food zone is not the biggest asset of this place.

Let’s put it clear, Plaza las Americas is not a tourist spot but if you want to get the local shopping experience, and buy food and clothes at local prices, this is the place to go. You can get a haircut, do your weekly shopping, and still but some clothes at international brands retailers such as Old Navy or H&M.
This is an indoor shopping mall, meaning you get A/C at all times. Not so common in Cancun!

Are you a lover of high-end and famous fashion brands? Luxury Avenue Shopping Mall will probably catch your attention.
Hermés? Rollex? Patek Philippe? Bulgari? Cartier? Carolina Herrera? Yes, they’re all there, and also many other renowned brands. At this mall, you can also repair your luxury watch or simply give it maintenance or get a posh manicure and pedicure for yourself. Mercado 23 is not the type of shopping place you’re probably used to. It’s a very traditional, Mexican market, focused on local clients. Get ready for a very authentic experience.
You can get absolutely everything there. From traditional pots, clothes, spices, piñatas, artisanal honey, plastic figures of Mary and all the saints you can imagine, to traditional sweets you have never ever tried in your life.
It’s a definite must and even if you don’t buy anything, photos from the place will make you the star of social media.

Roo, Mexico.

And now my absolute favorite shopping spot, Marina Puerto Cancun.
This is my and my family’s number one not only because of the shopping opportunities. “Puerto Cancun”, as locals call it, is probably the most relaxed place in Cancun to unwind in a laidback atmosphere. You can have an artisanal beer unavailable anywhere else in a beautiful hip environment overlooking the lagoon. The food corner will surprise you with its varieties and if you want a break from Mexican food there is a place with Spanish Tapas that has the best Patatas Bravas probably in the whole Mexico. You can also try French, Japanese, or Thai cuisine. There are also many posh restaurants that will satisfy the most demanding palatals.
On top of it, the Mall management makes sure there is always a temporary art exhibition that adds to the vibe and if you have kids there are places like extreme jumping, Circus Park, and a movie theater.
Address: Blvd. Kukulcan 1, Puerto
Juarez, Zona Hotelera, 77500 Cancún, Q.R., Mexico

So next time in Cancun, when you get tired of all the amazing beaches and open-air activities, grab your wallet and go on a shopping spree in Cancun.
