The Cozumel Reefs National Park houses the famous Chankanaab Park, where huge coral heads, known as "balloons," rise majestically from the seabed. These formations can reach almost three meters in height and between one and five meters in width. Every dive here is like a journey to the heart of marine beauty.

Indeed, Playa del Carmen, aside from its beautiful beaches, is an excellent starting point for exciting diving excursions. During a dive at the old shrimp boat "Mama Viña", sunk since 1995, I encountered the majesty of bull sharks. Swimming alongside these imposing predators was an unforgettable moment. If you want to experience the same, book your vacation between November and March, as these animals usually appear only in the winter season.

Night dives are worth it to discover marine creatures active in that period, like octopuses, moray eels, and lobsters. The experience is truly magical.

But what will make your trip to Isla Mujeres unique is swimming with whale sharks, the gentle giants of the oceans, who visit these waters from June to September. Swimming alongside these majestic animals is an otherworldly experience.

During these months, sunlight penetrates spectacularly into the crystal-clear waters of the cenotes, creating a perfect setting to photograph unique geological formations and the aquatic life inhabiting them.

From May to September, it's also the ideal time for the sighting of loggerhead and hawksbill turtles, which visit the beaches of the Riviera Maya to lay their eggs. If you're lucky to be in the region during this season, you can witness this beautiful natural spectacle.
